News of the Sons of Temperance Friendly Society
Originally established in New York in 1842, the Sons of Temperance has had an outstanding record of service in Britain in providing friendly society saving plans and life insurance exclusively for teetotalers. Despite what the society's name might suggest, members are both men and women.
- A Special General Meeting, held in September 2010, approved a radical reorganisation. This frees the society from onerous regulations; reduces the ongoing expenses of running the society; and enabled the distribution of a large proportion of the assets of the society to those members with long term contracts. Cheques in respect of their entitlement have been sent to those policyholders for whom we had current addresses. Please Confirm Your Address.
- The reorganisation enables the society to concentrate on education and furthering the temperance cause. As a teetotal society we are continuing, and will be enhancing, our social, fraternal and educational activities. Former policyholders are automatically entitled to continue to be members of the society.
